Manipur sweeps Sepak Takraw event in National Games
February 18th, 2011 - 5:20 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Feb 18 (IANS) Manipur bagged all the four gold medals at stake in the Sepak Takraw event at the 34th National Games here Friday.The sport, introduced as an exhibition event at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, has become popular in many states, especially in the north-eastern region of the country.
Meanwhile, L. Dip Maladevi of Jharkhand won the gold in the women’s 20 km walk.
Jharkhand has so far won nine gold medals in the ongoing Games.
