London, Dec 14(ANI): Manchester City will not sell captain Carlos Tevez in January, a senior club official has said.

The official said that if Tevez refuses to play or retires, the club would seek compensation for breach of contract from his agent Kia Joorabchian, the BBC reports.

The 26-year-old’s deal, which has three-and-a-half years to run, is estimated to amount to tens of millions of pounds.

It was earlier reported that Tevez was set to quit the club after it refused to grant him a transfer.

Tevez is adamant that he wants out of Eastlands, and says that no amount of money will make him stay.

The Argentinian striker first said that he wanted to quit back in August, but was persuaded to stay and was offered a whopping 1.5million pound bonus to make sure he did.

However, he had turned it down claiming that it was not about the money, but his personal life.

On Sunday, he issued a statement saying that his “relationships with certain executives and individuals at the club had broken down and were now beyond repair”. (ANI)
