Manchester City in the last 16February 27th, 2009 - 2:54 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
On Thursday, Craig Bellamy ensured Manchester City by providing the first significant return on their Arab owners investment in the club by advancing to the last 16 of the Uefa Cup
Bellamy’s goals delivered a 2-1 win over FC Copenhagen, one of the sides that came into the competition after being eliminated from the Champions League, and ensured Mark Hughes’s team progressed 4-3 on aggregate.
City will now be facing another Danish side, Aalborg, for a place in the quarter-finals and the Welsh striker Bellamy claimed his decisive goals in the space of seven second half minutes.
After firing City ahead in the 73rd minute, he effectively killed off the contest ten minutes from time after being set up by Brazilian star Robinho, who had been guilty of a shocking miss shortly beforehand.
