London, Aug 24(ANI): Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said that he would like to see owner Sheikh Mansour around every week to act as the club’s lucky charm.

Mansour took his seat at Eastlands on Monday night for the first time since buying the club in 2009 from Thaksin Shinawatra, in a match that saw City completely outplay Liverpool 3-1.

“It was a great performance to put on in front of Sheikh Mansour and it would be great if he could come every week,” The Sun quoted Mancini, as saying.

“I spoke to him after the game and he was very happy. It is the first time he has been here and he has seen us beat Liverpool. He spoke with Carlos Tevez, too, and congratulated him,” he added.

Mancini had the added satisfaction of watching debutant midfielder James Milner produce an outstanding performance. “It always takes time for a team to gel, but what pleased me tonight was that we had six English players in that side,” Mancini said.

Meanwhile, the 26 million pound buy, Milner, who was adjudged man of the match for setting up the opening goal, said: “I wanted to go out there and get on with the job. It is a great start to the home season.”

“It was a great finish from Gareth and after that Liverpool did not cause us many problems up to half-time. I think I can be part of something special here. This is a club moving forward with a great stadium,” he added. (ANI)
