Man U to offer striker Berbatov new three-year deal
February 5th, 2011 - 6:15 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 5 (ANI): Manchester United will offer striker Dimitar Berbatov a new three-year deal, as just a year is left on his current contract at the end of this season.
United wants to replace that with a new offer, which will see his wages, rise from 100,000 pounds a week to around 120,000 pounds a week.
Talks are set to start before the end of the season, but Berbatov has been made aware the club wants the contract done and that he is happy to stay, The Sun reports.
It marks a huge turn-around in his fortunes after United were ready to unload him in the summer.
His first two seasons at Old Trafford were poor following his 30.75 million pounds switch from Spurs in August 2008.
The Bulgarian striker is in top form in his third season at the club while strike partner Wayne Rooney has struggled with just four league goals. (ANI)
