Man U owners Glazer family denies meeting Red Knights
April 15th, 2010 - 2:38 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 15(ANI): The Glazer family has denied reports that the Red Knights had met them in London to finalize their offer to buy the multi-billion pound worth club, Manchester United.
Malcolm Glazer’s spokesman said their “not for sale stance has not and will not change”, despite all efforts being made by the Red Knights.
According to reports, the meeting is understood to determine the level of supporter involvement in the proposed ownership structure.
The consortium, made up of a number of wealthy United fans, do not expect to make a bid for the club before the end of the season, but they are believed to be sorting out plans for an approach in the near future.
“We are now developing the financial model before making a bid.” The Daily Express quoted a source close to the Red Knights, as saying.
Officials at United have always insisted that the club is not for sale, but experts have a different opinion.
“It will be [for sale], everything’s always for sale,” said Philip Long, a partner at an accountancy firm involved in football deals.
“The model at the moment isn’t profitable unless they sell players. The club can’t continue making the losses it’s made,” he added. (ANI)
