London, Jul 22 (ANI): Manchester United is determined to win a record 19th Premier League title and be crowned the undisputed kings of English football after they were declared the most valuable club in the world.
United equalled Liverpool’s total of 18 in 2009, but lost out to Chelsea last season in the race to be Premier League champions by a single point.
“This club is all about breaking records and achieving a new status. To be the most successful team in the English game would mean everything to the club and to the fans especially,: Midfielder Darren Fletcher said.
“They loved it when we equalled Liverpool’s record, so to beat it would mean an awful lot to them. As players, we want to put right the disappointment of not winning the league last year,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.
Fletch said the air of frustration after their failure to win title No.19 has been blown away by senior players who know what it takes to bounce back.
The likes of Ryan Giggs, 36, and 35-year-old Paul Scholes have passed on their experiences to make sure United get back to the game’s summit.
Fletcher said: “The senior players have been in so many situations, such as winning the league and then not winning it, and they know what you need to do to get it back.
“They know what it takes to fly back from a Champions League game and then play at Everton at noon on Saturday. They pass on the advice and the likes of myself, John O’Shea, Wes Brown and Wayne Rooney learn from it. Then it’s up to all of us to pass that on to the younger players.” (ANI)
