Maiden squash titles for Adithya, Neharika
July 1st, 2011 - 8:30 pm ICT by IANSChennai, July 1 (IANS) Adhitya Raghavan and Neharika Balamurukan, both trainees at the Indian Squash Academy here, won their maiden international squash title in the boys and girls under 13 category respectively at the Iran Junior Open at the Engheleb Sports Complex, Tehran.
According to a press release Saturday, Adhitya and Neharika, both southpaws from Chennai, won in straight games against their local opponents Thursday.
In the semifinals, they defeated higher ranked opponents from Iraq and Iran. This event is part of the Asian Squash Series that moves to Hong Kong (Aug 10-14) and India (Sept 6-10).

Girls under-13: Neharika Balamurukan beat Ayli Nayeri (Iran) 11-6, 11-7, 11-8. Boys under-13: Adhitya Raghavan beat Alireza Shameli (Iran) 11-9, 11-6, 11-8.
