Madieu Williams Bags Walter Payton Man Of The Year Award

Arlington, Texas, Feb 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The renowned American football safety for Minnesota Vikings, Madieu Williams has been honored with the title of Walter Payton Man of the Year. The announcement was made just before the highly anticipated game between Green bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers at Cowboys Stadium at Arlington in Super Bowl XLV. However, the veteran player was not present at the stadium but received his award from the Persian Gulf, where he went to visit Fourth Infantry Division.
Madieu Williams accepted the prestigious award through a video feed and he was surrounded with service members in Iraq. The player said that it was a tremendous honor for him to win the award, that is named after Walter Payton, who was one of the “greatest men” of National Football League. He apologized to all his fans and organizers, as he could not be there to accept the award. However, he also added that it is a “greater” honor for him to be with the people of 4th Infantry Division and Task Force Iron Horse.
Madieu Williams said that he would be watching the Super Bowl with the troops of Task Force Iron Horse and 4th Infantry Division. Minnesota Vikings’ head coach, Leslie Frazier expressed his happiness and excitement to a reputed media outlet and said that it is a “tremendous” honor for the team as Madieu Williams has been named as the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year. Leslie Frazier also said that Madieu Williams deserved the award as he cares for common people and not a “prototypical pro athlete by any means”. NFL gives Walter Payton Man of the Year Award to the players who have played excellently in their field and at the same time volunteered charity work.
