Louie Vito Finishes 5th In Men’s Halfpipe

Vancouver, Feb 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Wednesday, Shaun White won the Men’s snowboarding halfpipe finals at the Winter Olympics of 2010 with 48.4 points, while fellow teammate Louie Vito secured the 5th position with 42.8 points. In the qualifying round at Cypress Mountain, Shaun White was first and Louie Vito was third.
On Wednesday night’s men’s halfpipe, the multi-talented Louie Vito was quite impressive. While Shaun White earned the gold medal, Peetu Piiroinen from Finland was in the second position with 45.0 points. Scott Lago from America got the bronze medal. He scored 42.8 points. Louie Vito and fellow countrymen Gregory Bretz came in 5th and 12th respectively.
The 21-year-old Louie Vito was born in Columbus, Ohio. He grew up in Bellefontaine. From the early age of 17, he became a popular snowboarding star. At the Australia Open, he completed a backside and impressed everyone. He was champion for 2 consecutive times. Louie Vito was given the honor of the overall Chevy U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix series title in the year 2008. In the same year, he won the Killington Grand Prix. After a few days, in Squaw Valley of California, he got the title of the Jeep King of the Mountain Superpipe Championship. His achievements also include the triumph in the Etnies GVR.
Louie Vito has been a former contestant in “Dancing With The Stars,” Season 9. In the show, Chelsie Hightower, a contestant of “So You Think You Can Dance,” was his partner. He was eliminated in the 6th week of the show.
No wonder that the young professional snowboarder’s performance at the Winter Olympics has brought him in the limelight again.
