Devin Ebanks became a hot search after being picked by the NBA Champions who also picked Derrick Caracter as the 58th overall pick. The 6′9″, 215 pound Devin Ebanks has played two seasons with the Mountaineers and has an average of 11.2 points.

Devin Ebanks said in a press conference that he was very happy with his selection. He also added that he takes defending very seriously and personally. During his first season, Devin Banks had a total of 273 rebounds that is the second highest by any player in school level basketball. He comes into the champion side with a big reputation as a defender and also a decent mid-range game. However, he only scored off 10 percent of his 3 pointer attempts. Joining the Los Angeles Lakers also means a great deal to the youngster as he lives in Queens and has seen the Los Angeles Lakers players up close while growing up. He said that it was a great opportunity for him to play alongside the likes of Lamar Odom who grew up with his uncle. He added that he lived just two minutes away from Ron Artest and 10 minutes from Lamar Odom. According to Devin Ebanks, his biggest thrill was playing along side the greatest basketball player in the world, Kobe Bryant.

According to Los Angeles Lakers’ general manager Mitch Kupchak, Devin Ebanks was a player who has high potential with a good defensive play and will also be athletic small forward. He added that Devin Ebanks will be a perfect back-up for Ron Artest as they are not sure about Luke Walton’s back for the upcoming 2010-11 campaign.
