Los Angeles, June 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals 2010. The much anticipated Game 7 of the Finals was dominated by the defense as both teams showed extreme caution throughout the game.
The two teams share what can be called the biggest rivalry in NBA history and the Los Angeles Lakers who have ended on the losing side against the Boston Celtics in most past encounters, got sweet revenge on court this Thursday.
Kobe Bryant led from the front with 23 points for the Los Angeles Lakers and he was closely followed by Pau Gasol who had an excellent game finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds.
An amazing performance by Ron Artest scoring 20 points made one of the differences between the two evenly matched sides. His 3 pointer in the 4th quarter changed the game completely in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers at a crucial juncture. The 83-79 scorecard shows the contest was a closely fought low scoring match with both teams playing slightly too safe.
For the Boston Celtics, stellar performances came from Paul Pierce with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Garnett scored 17 points and significant contributions were seen from Ray Allen with 13 points and Rajon Rando with 14 points. Rajon Rando’s performance stood out in the game with 8 rebounds and 10 assists.
They proved their coach Phil Jackson right who said at the end of game 5 that they were the worst team in holding up the opponents in the last quarter. In game 7, the Los Angeles Lakers made the best of the wilting Boston Celtics’ defense and dominated the last quarter to win their 16th NBA Championship.
