June 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Boston Celtics failed to capitalize on the lead over the Los Angeles Lakers team after they crumbled under pressure in Game 6.
The much anticipated game for the Celtic fans was completely dominated by Kobe Bryant who finished with 26 points with 11 rebounds. The final score read a sweeping 67-89 in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers. The game which was expected to be close fought, exposed the Celtic’s inability to play under extreme pressure.
The dominance of the Los Angeles Lakers started from the very onset of the match. In the first quarter they lead the Boston Celtics by 10. By the end of the half time they were an almost unassailable 20 points ahead of Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics never really managed to recover from the big gap in the scores and finished 22 points behind the winners of game 6.
The Los Angeles Lakers led by Kobe Bryant showed no mercy in crushing the Boston Celtics and he was provided much assistance by Pau Gasol who finished with a total of 17 points with 13 rebounds and 9 assists. The back breaking blow was however delivered by Shannon Brown for the Los Angeles Lakers who made two amazing dunks in the second half to take the game completely away for his opponents. Another disappointing loss for the Boston Celtics was their defender Kendrick Perkins going down with a knee injury early on in the game.
The win for the Los Angeles Lakers ensures them another shot at the series with game 7. Another factor for the Boston Celtics is definitely going to be Kendrick Perkins’ injury. The big defender would have been an important factor in game 6 and if he is absent in game 7 it could be critical for the team’s confidence.
