New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS) The Lok Sabha Monday congratulated the Indian cricket team for becoming the world’s number one Test squad and for registering an “emphatic victory” over Sri Lanka in the Mumbai Test.
In a reference before beginning business, Speaker Meira Kumar said the team had achieved “an enviable feat of being the No.1 team in the ICC Test rankings, an accomplishment the country has achieved for the first time in the history of Indian cricket”.
“The tremendous achievement which has won the hearts of every Indian has been made possible by the grit and determination displayed by our team under the able captainship of M.S. Dhoni and the splendid performances by Virender Sehwag and others,” the speaker added.
Dhoni has also become the second player in the history not to lose a single match in his first 10 tests, the speaker said while the MPs echoed the praise by thumping on their desks.
