Liverpool must rise above injury woes: Dalglish

London, Apr 9(ANI): Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has told his players not to let captain Steven Gerrard’s season-ending injury wreck their morale.

Gerrard will not play again this season because of a groin problem, which could require surgery.

“It’s best to wait and see exactly what the problem is and then we can decide whether Steven requires surgery or not. It would be wrong for us to mislead anyone at this stage. It’s a blow to have anybody out, but we just have to get on with it,” the Sun quoted Dalglish, as saying.

“Without any disrespect to the players who are injured, the most important ones are the ones who are fit because they are the ones who can be picked.”

“At this particular moment in time I’m as good a player as Steven! But we know where we stand and we just have to get on with it,” he added.

Gerrard has made only 24 appearances for Liverpool this term and not enjoyed a consecutive run of more than six games due to injury and suspension.

The 30-year-old will also miss England’s European Championship qualifier with Switzerland on June 4. (ANI)
