October 20th, 2009 - 3:07 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct. 20 (ANI): Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina has admitted to taking his eye off the ball that ensured the club’s defeat against Sunderland on Saturday.”It was such bad luck. I lost sight of the official ball and stayed on the red one. When he shot, it startled me and I went for the red ball instinctively as it was the closest to me and the other went past me. It all happened very quickly,” The Sun quoted him, as saying. The Spanish keeper was fooled when Bent’s shot deflected off a red beach ball thrown on by a fan - and the goal should not have stood.
Reina told Madrid radio station Cope: “We didn’t know the rule because otherwise we would have protested. (ANI)
