lisaNew York, Jan 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American athlete Lisa Barber emerged as the winner in the woman’s 60 meters competition at the 103rd Millrose Games which was held at the Madison Square Garden on Friday. The victory surely tasted extremely sweet for the 29 year old athlete as this marked her return to the track after a period of eleven months. In order to register victory and win the much coveted title, Lisa Barber had to beat Jamaican star Veronica Campbell-Brown who grabbed the second position.

The competition concluded with an extremely tight finish which resulted in the two top athletes completing the race in 7.24 secs. The third position was grabbed by American athlete Muna Lee who crossed the line at 7.25 secs, whereas the fourth spot went to Bianca Knight who finished the race at 7.32secs.

The competition was hugely enjoyed by the large number of crowds gathered at the venue as the outcome remained unclear till the final moments and the race ended in a nail biting finish.

However, Lisa Barber’s stupendous performance surely indicated that she has fully recovered from a severe Achilles’ tendon injury that had made it almost impossible for her to return to the track. Soon after the U.S. indoor championships, the American athlete came to know of her injury which resulted in her staying away from the tracks for months. Although athletes suffering from Achilles’ injuries often find it extremely difficult to make a comeback, Lisa Barber not only returned to the track but also managed to emerge as the ultimate winner by virtue of her sheer willpower and hard work.
