Vancouver, Feb 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) US Olympics golden girl Lindsey Vonn who was expected to be the favorite at the games, dropped a bombshell on her fans, when she announced her painful shin injury. This unfortunate injury might even force her out of the games. This was a sad blow to all the US Olympic officials and her countless fans who were hoping that she would win many gold medals for the country.
“Now I’m questioning whether I’ll be able to ski,” Lindsey Vonn told a news conference on Wednesday. She got the injury while she was training in Austria last week, and said it “was the most painful injury I have ever had”, although she has not yet taken any pain medication to relive the pain. Lindsey Vonn was a gold medal hopeful in the Winter Games, as she had notched the top spot in eight of the 11 World Cup super-Gs and downhill’s so far this season. Besides this she is also the top favorite in the super-combined, which is her first scheduled race on Sunday, and a contender for medals in slalom and giant slalom.
Laddie Whitworth/Helmet Designer had won a contest in which the winner who design the helmet that Vonn would wear at the games. Laddie said that, “Winning the contest was important to me because I knew that there was going to be an Olympian with my design on their helmet. If that Olympian still puts on that helmet and decides to ski, I’ll be proud. If that Olympian decides that she can’t ski and never wears the helmet…she’ll have given it her shot and I’ll have given it my shot.”
