Liberatdores Cup: Corinthians beat Nacional

Rio de Janeiro, March 8 (IANS) Corinthians cruised to a 2-0 victory at home against Paraguay’s Nacional in the South American Libertadores Cup.

Corinthians scored their first goal of the match Wednesday in the 38th minute when Danilo followed up a teammate’s shot-on-goal and shot the rebound past keeper German Caffa.

Jorge Henrique increased Corinthians lead in the 66th minute by slotting home a cross from Edenilson.

The victory gives Corinthians their first win in 2012 Libertadoers Cup after tying against Venezuela’s Deportivo Tachira 1-1 Feb 15, Xinhua reported.

In the next round, the team will travel to face Mexico’s Cruz Azul March 14 in a direct battle for first place in Group F.
