The player went down for his first carry of the season with around 12 minutes remaining in the second quarter. However, he got injured in the attempt when hit by linebacker Nick Barnett of the Green Bay Packers. The player twisted his leg backward in an awkward way that resulted to the injury. While initial reports claimed that Leonard Weaver had only suffered some kind of sprains, it was latter mentioned that the injury was serious enough to keep the player out of the field for the rest of the season.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid said to media sources after the injury of Leonard Weaver that the latter is a “phenomenal player, and a phenomenal guy”.
