Leonard Garcia Beats Nam Phan Via Split Decision

namLas Vegas, Dec 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ultimate Fighter semi-finalist Nam Phan was beaten by Mexican American fighter Leonard Garcia in the finale to Season 12 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” The event which was held on Saturday at the Palms Casino Resort in the sin city of Las Vegas turned out to be a highly entertaining experience for the viewers with some of the bouts ending just as the crowds had expected while some of them came as a real shocker. The bout between Nam Phan and his opponent was one of the showdowns that left the large number of crowds rather baffled when it ended with a split decision in Leonard Garcia’s favor.

The manner in which the fight unfolded made it apparent that the only two people who actually agreed with the decision were thew two judges who ruled the bout 29-28 in Leonard Garcia’s favor. The 31-year-old Mexican American mixed martial arts fighter was himself visibly taken aback when his name was announced as the winner with two judges scoring 29-28 for him while the third judge ruled 30-27 in favor of his opponent. After being declared as the winner of the bout, Leonard Garcia yelled to the stunned crowd that it was indeed a great fight and also added that all he could think of that contributed to his victory were some of the takedowns that he delivered in the bout.

However, for Nam Phan had his fans, the decision of the judges came as real shock. The Vietnamese-American martial arts fighter later told reporters that he did not want to take away anything from his opponent but he was quite sure that he had beat Leonard Garcia convincingly in all the three rounds.
