Nov. 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The tragic death of basketball player Len Bias will be aired on ESPN on the 3rd of November. Even after two decades of his death, his death continues to raise questions about drug abuse and the reckless lives led by many people who submit themselves inordinately to the baleful power of drugs. that is the issue that ESPN raises once more, with it’s rather reflective show titled “Without Bias.”
Len Bias had died almost a decade back, on the 19th if June in 1986. He was a star baller of the University Of Maryland. His career was on a meteoric rise, until he fell victim to drug overdose, and a fatal one. “Without Bias” by Kirk Fraser is a documentary that takes a probing look into Bias’ death and before that. More than a trip down memory lane or a tribute to a promising basketball player, the show is more of a warning against drug usage and a reminder if what it can lead to. Bias’ death came at a time when America was already staggering under the weight of excessive dug use. Bias died two days after the NBA Draft of 1986 had been formulated. His death changed the whole outlook toward casual drug intake, and taking cue from it, new policies wee form that would leave the future generations practicing more caution.
According to Fraser, “Without Bias” is not merely a message in the garb of a documentary. It is also a celebration of the life of the great player and the legacy that he left behind. However, that doesn’t change the fact that it also a word of caution to men and women everywhere in a world that is still hugely plagued by drug problems.
