Lee to play Twenty20 cricket in New Zealand to earn Oz recall
October 18th, 2010 - 2:20 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Oct 18 (ANI): To press his claims for an international recall ahead of the 2011 World Cup, Australian fast bowler is all set to play Twenty20 cricket in New Zealand.
Lee is scheduled to make his first appearance for Wellington against Auckland on December 15.
Lee, who made a successful return to domestic cricket with New South Wales against Western Australia on Sunday, will play five Twenty20 matches for provincial side Wellington when the Blues do not require him.
The 33-year-old speedster is the second Australian player to sign on for a New Zealand province after Blues teammate David Warner committed to Northern Districts, FOX Sports reports.
Lee retired from Test cricket in 2008, but the veteran pacer is still hopeful of a return to the Australia set-up for Twenty20 and one-day internationals.
He took the first steps towards an international recall with a promising 2-37 in the Blues’ five-wicket win over the Warriors at Hurstville Oval, his first domestic match in six months. (ANI)
