Lee compares Border-Gavaskar Trophy to AshesNovember 28th, 2007 - 4:41 pm ICT by admin
Melbourne, Nov 28 (ANI): Likening the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia to the coveted Ashes series, speedster Brett Lee has said that playing against India is one of their greatest challenges.
We have always said that playing against England in the Ashes is where it’s at, but I also think now playing against India is one of our greatest challenges as far as Test match cricket goes, Lee said.
Lee, who made his debut against India in 1999 at home, said he was eagerly waiting for the four-match Test series, which according to him would generate as much interest as an Ashes contest, The Age reported.
Recalling his debut match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) eight years ago when he took 5-47 against Sachin Tendulkar’s side, Lee said, Time has flown by so quickly and there are some absolutely great memories playing at the MCG, on a team basis and an individual basis.
The last Border-Gavaskar Trophy was contested in Australia in 2003/4, during which the hosts struggled, as the four-Test series was drawn 1-1.
India will arrive in Australia in mid-December. The first Test will be played at the MCG from the Boxing Day (December 26). (ANI)
