London, Sep 7(ANI): Manchester United has been accused of giving cash to French youngster Paul Pogba’s parents to lure him to Old Trafford from his French club, Le Harve.
Man United reportedly gave 180,000 pounds and bought a house for the Pogba family, and even promised a startling salary of 16,500 pounds a month, when he signs his first professional deal next season.
Le Havre president Jean-Pierre Louvel says Man United were guilty of poaching, even though Pogba had not signed any professional contract with Le Harve.
“They tempt the parents. In the case of Paul Pogba, it was fairly simple - 100,000 Euros for the father, 100,000 Euros for the mother, and a house. There was a legal agreement that he should not be poached,” The Sun quoted Louvel, as saying.
According to reports, Le Havre even demands FIFA to punish United with the same sort of sanctions, which they have imposed on Chelsea who have been banned from signing players until 2011 for tempting Lens player Gael Kakuta.
Meanwhile, following the accusations, Man U has released a statement claiming that it was “complete nonsense”. (ANI)
