Lazio beat Novara 3-0 to consolidate position in Serie A
December 6th, 2011 - 3:09 pm ICT by IANSRome, Dec 6 (IANS) Lazio consolidated their fourth spot in the Italian Serie A after they thrashed Novara 3-0 at home.
Skipper Tommaso Rocchi scored a brace after Giuseppe Biava opened the scoring for the home team who dominated the match from start to finish Monday, Xinhua reported.
The match at the Stadio Olimpico was decided before half time, with Biava’s first league goal for the Biancoceleste this season putting the home side on course for all three points after 16 minutes.
Lazio captain Tommaso Rocchi doubled his team’s lead midway through the first half before adding his second of the evening 18 minutes from time.
Novara lacked the killer instinct in front of goal and they remained in the relegation zone, four points adrift of safety.
The result lifted Lazio five points clear of fifth placed Napoli after 13 games.
