Laxman, Narang, Sushil conferred Padma Shri

New Delhi, Jan 25 (IANS) Cricketer V.V.S. Laxman, Olympics bronze medal winning wrestler Sushil Kumar and ace shooter Gagan Narang were among the seven sportspersons awarded the Padma Shri Tuesday on the occasion of Republic Day. Woman discus thrower Krishna Poonia, who won India’s first athletics gold medal in the Commonwealth Games after 52 years, and Manipur’s decorated weightlifter N. Kunjarani Devi also got the Padma Shri.
Para jumper Shital Mahajan and mountaineer Harbhajan Singh were also conferred the prestigious award.
