Dec 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It seems that the pitchers are having a gala time at the winter meetings as Milwaukee acquired the ex-Astros pitcher LaTroy Hawkins. According to Larry Reynolds, the agent of LaTroy Hawkins, the ex-Astros pitcher has reportedly agreed to a $7.5 million two-year-contract deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. The departure of LaTroy Hawkins caused much distress to his former club Houston Astros.
According to the sources, 36 year old LaTroy Hawkins will bring in experience and value to the Milwaukee Brewers, as the pitcher has an avid experience of 14 years under his belt. The agreement with LaTroy Hawkins comes soon after the Brewers landed on a $29.75 three year contract deal with starter Randy Wolf.
According to the sources, LaTroy Hawkins apparently seemed overwhelmed with the deal as he expressed his eagerness and gratitude to be a part of the Brewers. The veteran player was seen brimming with energy as he seemed to start afresh with his new club. During his stint with the Houston Astros, the pitcher posted a 2.13 ERA with 11 saves in 65 appearances. The stupendous performance of Hawkins literally upheld Astros’ performances all through out the season. Sources revealed that the Astros general manager, Ed Wade reportedly expressed his disappointment over the departure of LaTroy Hawkins. While speaking on LaTroy Hawkins, the Astros general manager said that the ex-pitcher had an unmatched spirit and zeal to perform, which in turn helped Astros to better their performance.
Sources revealed that LaTroy Hawkins reportedly asked for a multi-year deal whereas the Astros offered him only a one year contract which forced the player to come to an agreement with the Milwaukee Brewers.
