Larry Pearson Rushed To Hospital During Saturday’s Exhibition Race

laryBristol, March 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Saturday, the exhibition race which was organized by Bristol Motor Speedway, turned out gory when a terrifying accident took place between the cars of Charlie Glotzbach and Larry Pearson. While Charlie Glotzbach was reportedly found in good condition, Larry Pearson was badly injured and was immediately rushed to Bristol Regional Medical Center. Larry Pearson according to reports, has suffered broken left ankle, right hand and pelvis. The racer is scheduled to be operated on Saturday night for his ankle fracture. Larry Pearson however, was conscious when he was brought to the hospital.

On Saturday, while only five laps were remaining, Larry Pearson who has remained the winner of the Nationwide Series in 1986 and 1987, spun his car on the outside wall and then suffered a crash with Charlie Glotzbach when the latter came after Turn 2 round and hit the driver-door side of the former’s car. The game was halted for the time being after the crash. Few minutes after the crash, 71 year old Charlie Glotzbach came out of his car unhurt. However, the car of Larry Pearson was badly damaged and the roof was cut off to take the racer out of the car. Out of the car, Larry Pearson was immediately put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.

The race which was red flagged, resumed after half an hour. The father of Larry Pearson, legendary David Pearson, who had won three Sprint Cup Championship titles during his career on track, opted out of the race. David Pearson accompanied his son to the hospital and later remained there with his family. The race was won by Rick Wilson.
