Lancashire offer to host Pakistan ‘home’ Tests
June 14th, 2009 - 3:25 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )London, June 14 (IANS) Lancashire have confirmed that they are willing to stage Pakistan’s “home” Test matches next summer.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) post terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in March, coupled with ongoing instability in Pakistan, has been looking for alternative venues for its 2010 series.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had earlier suggested that English counties can help fill the gaps in their calendars with high-profile matches.
“The ECB asked us about this and we have declared our interest,” Jim Cumbes, Lancashire’s chief executive was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.
“We have a great Asian population here. We have staged a World Cup match between India and Pakistan at Old Trafford, so we know the interest Pakistan’s return would create.”
Australia are scheduled to tour Pakistan next year.
