trabsSan Francisco, Oct 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lana Lawless, who underwent a sex reassignment surgery five years ago, has filed a lawsuit against Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) due to the organization’s policy to include players who must be ‘female at birth.’ The transgender woman took the decision of taking legal actions against LPGA after she was banned from joining the organization. In the lawsuit which was filed earlier this week at the San Francisco Federal Court, Lana Lawless alleges that the policy owing to which she was not allowed to join LPGA violates her civil rights.

As per the lawsuit, 57-year-old Lana Lawless is seeking to prevent LPGA from organizing any events in the state of California until its policy undergoes a transformation. At the same time, the lawsuit also seeks damages in the case, the exact amount of which has not been revealed to the media. In the meanwhile, the transgender woman is also known to have taken legal action against Long Drivers of America (LDA) as well as three LPGA sponsors after she was not allowed to participate in the women’s long-drive golf championship this year following LDA’s decision to adopt LPGA’s policy.

After filing the lawsuit against LPGA on Tuesday, Lana Lawless issued a statement the next day which read that she is ‘legally, and physically female’ while adding that the state of California recognizes her as a female and so LPGA should be permitted to violate her rights so blatantly. In the statement, Lana Lawless further went on to say that she just wanted to have the chance to play professional golf like any other woman.
