Sep 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The LA Lakers forward - Matt Barnes has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence by the police after the police received what they call an 911 call from Barnes neighborhood. The incident happened on Wednesday.

When police got to the scene, they say they saw Barnes and an unidentified woman with visible bruises on their bodies but decided to arrest Barnes after they realized that he was the “primary aggressor”. The police did not identify the lady but they described her as someone who Barnes has a dating relationship with, implying they may be lovers of some sort.

The 30 year old was released on a $50,000 bond and he is billed to appear before a magistrate on September 13 on a possible charge of domestic violence and obstructing the use of a telephone. Barnes however maintains that he was the victim in the scuffle with his girlfriend. He revealed that the authorities never listened to whatever he told them.

Barnes signed a $3.6 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in July. The deal is valid for two years. Barnes signed the contract as a free agent from Orlando where he played 58 games last season.
