The Los Angeles Galaxy gave the seven time Seria A champion, AC Milan, a run for their money as they forced the giants of Italian foot ball to end up in a tie during a friendly game that was held at The Home Depot Center.

On a clear and balmy Southern California night, the sold out crowd on hand for the Los Angeles Galaxy versus AC Milan friendly tie witnessed as many as four goals, as the match ended with a 2-2 draw.

The Galaxy’s David Beckham who was pitted against his former club, where he had spent five months on an extended loan earlier this year, was literally booed loudly by the spectators who seemed to be frustrated by Beckham’s poor show for the club. The reaction of the fans changed when Beckham assisted his team for the two goals that they scored. He was later on substituted by Mike Magee during the 75th minute of the match.

The Galaxy, the winners of the four consecutive regular season games, were anxious to see how they fare against one of the world’s soccer powerhouses. It seemed that the Galaxy were quite happy with the result as they did push AC Milan to the edge during the first half of the match. The Galaxy controlled possession for the majority of the first half and had most of the scoring chances.

The first goal of Milan was scored by Thiago Silva from just inside the goal line area as he headed the ball into the net. Galaxy responded 14 minutes later as Alan Gordon netted the ball successfully by beating goal keeper Zelijko Kalac. Milan took the lead in the 61st minute, as Milan’s Fillippo Inzaghi netted the ball, thus taking a 2-1 lead. Galaxy, however came right back into the match as Bryan Jordan headed the ball into the net which was set up by a trademark “David Beckham corner kick”.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
