Kotiyan bags double in Mumbai TT
July 23rd, 2012 - 9:05 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, July 23 (IANS) Second seed Ravindra Kotiyan humbled top seed Nishaad Shah twice to capture the youth boys as well as junior boys singles titles in the JVPGC All-Mumbai 4-star ranking table tennis tournament, hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club Monday.
The end results could have been different had Nishaad after leading 3-1 not given away too many points on errors. He also messed up when he was on match point in the fifth game to not only lose the game but also let Ravindra run away with the tie 11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 4-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-6 in the junior event.
Later, the scene was identical when Nishaad after fighting back from 1-3 let slip the advantage to see Ravindra end with a double with the scoreline reading 7-11, 2-11, 8-11, 4-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8 to bag the youth title.
Senhora D’Souza having already outplayed Dyuti Patki 11-8, 11-4, 11-3, 11-8 in the junior girls final, had enough confidence to beat her nemesis and top seed Shweta Parte 13-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-9 to capture the youth girls title.
