Kolo Toure did not use any illegal substance, claims brother Yaya
March 6th, 2011 - 3:50 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar 6(ANI): Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has defended his brother Kolo, who failed a drug test, saying that the substance found in his system came from a stimulant contained in one of his wife’s slimming tablets.
Kolo has been suspended from playing until the Football Association holds a hearing into his case.
The 29-year-old had tested positive for a ’specified substance’ following the Manchester derby defeat against United last month. He faces a two-year ban.
“Kolo is a sane person - he did not use any substance that was illegal. My brother is damaged. And the squad is affected because Kolo is an important man for us and one of our captains. So, we want a quick solution to this problem,” the Daily Express quoted Yaya, as saying.
“We all have confidence in Kolo. I am at Manchester City due to the insistence of my brother. For me it will be very hard to play without him in the team,” he added. (ANI)
