Kochi Tuskers confident of beating Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings
April 18th, 2011 - 11:57 am ICT by ANIKochi, Apr 18 (ANI): Mahela Jayawardene, captain of Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) team, has said that the team is working hard and trying to improve in weak areas ahead of their match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team.
“I think in 20-20 cricket the bowlers are going to be at the receiving end. Everyone is coming to get runs. So, we can’t be too hard on the bowlers. They are trying their level best. There are areas in which we can improve, leading certain game plans, executing them. So, we will keep improving. We just have to keep working at it. We just can’t blame anyone,” said Jayawardene.
Jayawardene said that his country’s cricket board and the BCCI were likely to meet on Monday (April 18) to have a talk over the return of the players taking part in the IPL midway in the Twenty20 league for a tour of England.
“As series, we are supposed to return on the 5th (May 05) because that’s the directive we have been given. I know that the dialogue happened between the two respective boards. It has been Singhalese New Year back home. So, everything has been closed so they will start probably tomorrow. They will have a meeting. As it is right now we are supposed to go on 5th,” added Jayawardene.
The captain also said that the win against Mumbai had a positive effect on the players as the players were working hard to get a win against Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s led Chennai Super Kings.
“I think the win was great for us against the Mumbai (Mumbai Indians team). We have moved on from that. I think we have taken a lot of positives from that and we just need to start from ball one from tomorrow. Chennai (Chennai Super Kings) is a good team. They have always played to win and we just have to like I said work really hard for every thing out there tomorrow and do little things right,” added Jayawardene.
KTK will take on defending champions CSK in Kochi city on Monday (April 18). (ANI)
