Kochi IPL owner says no show cause notice received from BCCI
October 7th, 2010 - 10:41 pm ICT by ANIKochi (Kerala), Oct.7 (ANI): The owner of the Kochi Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise has said that he is yet to receive the show cause notice from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’We have not yet received the show cause letter issued by the BCCI, and there is no such crisis situation in the Kochi IPL,” said Vivek Venugopal, owner of the the Kochi IPL team. He was speaking on the sidelines of a Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) award function held here on Thursday.Earlier, the KCA had called a meeting to discuss issues related to franchisee ownership and other formalities to be completed before the fourth edition of the IPL takes off with an auction of players in a couple of months.Representatives from the BCCI were conspicuous by their absence.KCA secretary T.C. Mathew said there will be an unofficial meeting with the representatives and a solution will be arrived at soon.Meanwhile, The Kochi IPL franchise has registered itself as a legal entity as required by the BCCI. Ravi Shastri, a former cricketer and a member of the IPL Governing Council, said that he too wanted things to happen, but was not the right person to comment on the situation. He said that everyone should wait for the reply to the letter issued by the BCCI to the three consortium members, the deadline for which ends in ten days.He was inaugurating the KCA Golden Jubilee celebrations. On the occasion, he made a special mention of Kerala cricket veterans, some whom he competed with when he was a player.Rendezvous Sports World is owned by a consortium that includes Vivek Venugopal, a businessman, and Shailendra Gaekwad.The company won the franchisee rights for the Kochi IPL team with a bidding price of Rs.1500 crore in March this year.
