Kiwis face setback with fresh O’Brien injury
December 9th, 2009 - 1:45 pm ICT by ANINapier (New Zealand), Dec.9 (ANI): New Zealand’s chances of securing a series victory over Pakistan in the final cricket test against Pakistan to be played here, have received a setback with fast bowler Iain O’Brien aggravating a finger injury.
O’Brien left fielding practice early here at McLean Park, nursing his right hand after taking part in outfield drills.
According to the NZPA, the 33-year-old seamer, who will be playing his last Test, dislocated the middle finger of his bowling hand during the latter stages of New Zealand’s 32-run victory in the first test in Dunedin.
He played in the second test defeat at the Basin Reserve last week, revealing part way through the match Friday’s series finale would be his last game of international cricket.
O’Brien is moving to the United Kingdom before Christmas to be with his English-based wife Rosie. (ANI)
