Kiwi quick McKay training under ‘legend’ Hadlee for India tour success

Auckland, Oct 26(ANI): New Zealand fast bowler Andy McKay has revealed that he is training under the guidance of Kiwi great Sir Richard Hadlee to prepare for his Test debut in the upcoming series against India.
McKay said that he was working one-on-one with Hadlee in a deal arranged by New Zealand high performance manager Roger Mortimer.
“We got on well and he felt he could offer me a few things and I felt I could use his services. He’s free for me to call or email, he’ll watch my games and offer some feedback tactically and technique-wise,” Stuff.co.nz quoted McKay, as saying.
“I’ve found him really good. He doesn’t overpower things, but he offers good pointers and a few plans for the subcontinent,” he added.
The 30-year-old further said that Hadlee’s advice was to select particular moments to strike, as it would be unrealistic to charge in at 100 per cent every ball.
McKay has taken 12 wickets at 23.83 from nine ODIs, since his debut against Bangladesh at Napier in February.
The left-arm fast bowler embarks on his first tour of India on Saturday in a race for probably three spots with Chris Martin, Brent Arnel, Tim Southee and Hamish Bennett. (ANI)
