Kirani James aims to maintain form in 2012
December 15th, 2011 - 4:55 pm ICT by IANSNew York, Dec 15 (IANS/CMC) The 400-metres World champion Kirani James has vowed to keep the Spice Isle of Grenada on the world map with strong performances next year.
James was the guest of honour at a dinner staged by the Grenada Boys’ School Alumni Association (GBBS) Tuesday.
James urged Grenadians to continue to give both morale and tangible support to him and fellow Grenadian Rondell Bartholomew during what he expects to be a tough year.
“The journey has just started and I am relying on your continued support,” he said. “It will take a lot for me and my colleagues to deliver at the Olympic Games in London but we are training hard to bring home the victory.”
“Next year will be challenging for us since Grenada has set a mark and the World will be coming for revenge, especially at the Olympics, but we are determined to work hard and do our best in both the indoor and outdoor championships.”
James, a 2009 graduate of the GBSS, was one of two former students honoured at the event.
