kim-yunaVancouver, British Columbia, Feb 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kim Yu-Na of South Korea amazed the audiences with her beautiful performance at the women figure skating short program which was held on Tuesday evening at Vancouver. It is reportedly being said that she had not only broken her own personal record but swept past her biggest competitor by scoring a whooping 78.50 points. She has managed to score 4.72 points more than Mao Asada of Japan.

Kim Yu-Na is the world champion and also one of the toughest contenders who have been performing brilliantly this season. The pressure on the South Korean 19 year old contestant has been immense. On Tuesday’s short program, however she seemed to be relaxed and delivered a performance which spoke of her confidence. Her moves were controlled which demanded ovation from the viewers.

She performed to a medley from the James Bond movies. Under the black dazzling dress she seemed like a feather dancing along the wind. She delivered a brilliant triple Lutz-triple toeloop which is considered one of the toughest moves. Her jumps showed that she deserves the points which the judges obliged her with. She covered the entire podium without ever faltering on her steps.

After being endowed with a world record points, Kim Yu-Na said that she has waited for this to happen for a long time. According to reports, she also added that her biggest rival Mao Asada also danced perfectly. As of now, Japan’s Mao Asada still remains Kim Yu-Na’s closest competitor by holding the second position with 73.78 points. Canada’s Joannie Rochette, who took the World Championship silver medal in 2009 finished third.
