Beijing, Aug 10 (IANS) The highly rated Virdhawal Khade failed to create even a ripple in the swimming pool as he finished a lowly seventh to crash out of the 200m freestyle event in the Olympics Games here Sunday. Sixteen-year-old Khade clocked 1:51.86 in his heat to take the penultimate position disappointing the Indian supporters who had gathered at the at the National Aquatics Centre (NAC).
The Kohlapur boy trailed the heat winner Norwegian Gard Kvale by 3.13 seconds. Kvale traversed the distance in 1:48.73.
The Indian began well by making it to the fourth position in the first 50 metres, but slumped to the sixth place half way into the competition. After the third lap, Khade slipped to the seventh place from where he could not recover.
