Kevin HarvickDaytona Beach, July 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Saturday was a fight night at the Daytona International Speedway in the Coke Zero 400 where Kevin Harvick emerged as the winner in a wild race. Rains delayed the start of the race by almost two hours and the finish was postponed by a span of 19 minutes and 34 seconds. In addition to the rain, there was 20 car crashes which made it a slow finish.

Undoubtedly, it was one of the most fascinating races in the history of International Speedway where Kevin Harvick became one of the 18 team leaders which happens to be record in the 52 years of racing history at Coke Zero 400. The most disappointing was the last five car crashes at the finish line itself. Kasey Kahne was involved in two accidents but still made it to the second position. Following him was Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Burton. The rains made it real wet on the tracks which made the tires of the car to be replaced soon within an hour of the race. Early pit stops were made by Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson.

The Daytona International Speedway shall soon witness a change all across it’s pavements which shall incur a cost of $20 million that shall have the entire facility repaved. As a matter of fact, this would be the first face-lift for the track after 1978. The project would commence from Monday. Kyle Busch who parked his vehicle in the garage after 35 laps blamed Daytona Racing facility, old tires and the bad weather for his accidental bump with A.J. Allmendinger.
