Los Angeles, Feb 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant chose the best time to hit the 50 point mark when he helped his team beat the Denver Nuggets 124-118. The game had to be pushed to the overtime on Sunday night.

It was a remarkable night for the Thunders because they became the only team after the Chicago bulls to have two teammates score at least 40 points apiece in a single game. The last time it happened was in 1996 when NBA legend Michael Jordan and teammate Scottie Pippen did it for the Bulls.

On the night, Durant scored 51 points and Russell Westbrook added 40 more points. Thunder’s James Harden told reporters that, “Unbelievable! That’s probably one of the best regular-season games that I’ve played in since I’ve been here, or the best. Kevin had 50, Russell had 40 and Serge had a triple-double. What else can you say?”

The fans chanted “MVP!” during the game and that seemed to sum up the performance of Durant on the night. He acknowledged the fans when he told reporters that, “They’ve been there with me ever since I was 8 trying to play this game.”

Durant will be part of the All-Star game which will take place this weekend.
