New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) Maharaj Krishan Kaushik will take charge of the women’s hockey camp in Bangalore Wednesday.Kaushik, who Monday joined the Sports Authority of India (SAI) on deputation from the Haryana government, will meet the Director-General SAI before leaving for Bangalore.

Former India hockey captain M. P. Ganesh, now technical director, Indian Women’s Hockey federation (IWHF,) told IANS from Bangalore that Kaushik will take charge of the 40-day preparatory camp for the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games Wednesday.

Ganesh said once Kaushik joins the camp a detailed training and competition programme will be finalised.

“India have been invited for bilateral series as well as international tournaments by a number of countries and the programme will be chalked up in consultation with Kaushik,” said Ganesh.

The ad-hoc committee set up by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to manage hockey affairs in the country selected Kaushik as the men’s team coach till the 2010 Asian Games earlier in the week.

IWHF made no secret of their displeasure, saying that Kaushik had been contracted to manage the women’s team till 2012 London Olympics and it was unfair to name him as men’s team coach.

IWHF said her federation got Kaushik on deputation from the Haryana government and he was honour-bound to work with the women’s team.
