New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) India’s Parupalli Kashyap stunned Korean Hong Ji Hoon to reach the men’s singles third round while Saina Nehwal bowed out of the women’s event in the Asian Badminton Championship in Suwon, Korea, Wednesday.
Unseeded Kashyap beat the 15th seed Korean 21-14, 7-21, 21-19 in 53 minutes to set-up a clash with Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh, who took out India’s Anand Pawar 21-16, 15-21, 16-21.

But the biggest disappointment for India was seventh seeded Saina going down to Jiang Yanjiao of China 21-14, 14-21, 12-21 in a hard-fought battle.

In another first round match, Aditi Mutatkar went down 13-21, 11-21 to Chiang Pei Hsin of Chinese Taipei (Taiwan).

In mixed doubles, Jwala Gutta and V. Diju beat qualifiers Zakharov Mikhail and Suleyeva Karina of Kazakhstan 21-6, 21-6 in the first round.
