- Munich, June 27 (IANS) S.S.P. Chowrasia, who has struggled with form and injury since he won his first and only European Tour title last year, came up with a fine second round score of two-under 70 that gave him a total of five-under 139 and a tied 16th place at the halfway mark of the BMW International Open golf in Germany.
Chowrasia had shot 69 in the first round. Ahead of Chowrasia was Shiv Kapur, who sizzled with a second round 66 that saw him leapfrog to 11th place after a first round 71. Kapur had seven birdies, five of them on the back nine of the course.
However, India’s Jyoti Randhawa missed the cut after rounds of 73 and 69. He was two-under and the cut came at three-under.
Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, the current Asian Tour number one, added a 66 to his opening 69 to lie tied fifth, three strokes behind leader Retief Goosen who is on 132.
The 12-time Asian Tour winner fired an eagle and five birdies to charge into contention where he is bidding for a first title in Europe.
Multiple Asian Tour winner James Kingston of South Africa was in a share of eighth place after a 69.
