Kaneria vows to avenge Australia thrashing in England
January 20th, 2010 - 2:17 pm ICT by ANIBrisbane, Jan.20 (ANI): Pakistan’s premier leg-spinner Danish Kaneria believes he performed reasonably well in the just concluded Test series against Australia, and has vowed to give the Aussies a tough time when Pakistan play against them in ‘home’ series in England in July this year.
Kaneria, who missed the first Test of the three match series due to a finger injury, took nine wickets in the next two Test matches.
Kaneria was touted as Pakistan’s lethal weapon and was expected to trouble the Australian batsmen during the Test series, but failed to prevent a 3-0 drubbing.
“I tried to give my best here.I got nine wickets from two Tests though there wasn’t much in the wickets for me,” The News quoted Kaneria, as saying.
“I’m looking forward the summer with the Tests against Australia and England. I’ve been playing regularly in England for quite some time and hope to utilise my experience to lift Pakistan’s chances of beating Australia and England,” he added.
Kaneria ,29, lamented not playing any matches at home, but added that playing on foreign soils would not affect his performance.
“We will be playing abroad mostly and personally it’s not a problem for me. It suits me fine if we play in places like New Zealand, Australia, England and South Africa because I like the bounce I get on wickets there,” he said. (ANI)
