Kalmadi elected unopposed as Asian Athletics Association president
November 9th, 2009 - 4:08 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Suresh Kalmadi was Monday elected unopposed as the president of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA), for his third consecutive term, at Guangzhou in China.
Maurice Nicholas was also elected as secretary-treasurer of the AAA, according to information received here.
The 18th general body meeting of the Asian body was attended by Lamine Diack, president of the world body, and 45 member countries.
Kalmadi, who is the chairman of the organising committee of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, was first elected as the president in 2000 at Jakarta.
