Jute blazers and Jerseys for junior East Bengal footballers
July 21st, 2010 - 10:35 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, July 21 (IANS) The players of the under-15 East Bengal football team will now wear blazers and jerseys made of jute. The unique initiative to make jute blazers and jerseys for football players has been taken up by National Jute board and Bluechip Projects Private Limited.
Bluechip Projects Private Limited is the official sponsor of the East Bengal U-15 football team for the next three years.
“This is a unique initiative to make blazers made of jute. It will help in increasing awareness regarding the diversified use of jute,” said Atri Bhattacharya, secretary, National Jute board.
All these blazers will be have a combination of Jute and cotton, with the jute content being higher. The players will, however, sport jerseys made of jute only in exhibition matches, said Ritwick Das, director of Bluechip Projects Pvt. Ltd.
The material for making such blazers will be provided by the Jute board at a subsidised rate and the cost of designing and tailoring these blazers will be borne by Bluechips Projects.
